QUALIFICATIONS
Delegates of all experience levels are welcome to apply; however, we recommend at least one year of previous NMUN experience to apply for a Chair position. Experienced delegates are particularly encouraged to apply to become a Chair for their committee. These positions are great for delegates wishing to take an active leadership role in their NMUN•NY committee, as well as delegates who may be interested in applying for volunteer staff positions in the future.
DEADLINES
Delegates need to submit their application by 26 March 2022 (Week A) or 2 April 2022 (Week B) for priority consideration. Applications submitted after the deadline for each week will be considered but are not guaranteed an interview.
INTERVIEW
Interviews for applicants will be conducted the first night of the conference after committee session. You will receive an email confirming the location.
TRAINING
Delegates who are selected for the position of Chair are required to attend a training session on the second day of NMUN•NY run by the NMUN•NY Secretariat. Their Committee Directors will inform them of the exact time when they are selected.
ELIGIBILITY FOR AWARDS
All individuals who are selected as Chairs for committees at the NMUN•NY conference will be required to relinquish their position as delegates representing a given Member State or NGO. However, they are still eligible for recognition in each session of the committee, and a delegate’s service in this position in no way detracts from his/her delegation’s ability to win an overall delegation award.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Each committee has a Chair who works with the Director and Assistant Director to assist with procedural and administrative tasks. This position requires a working knowledge of the NMUN rules of procedure and a professional presence on the dais. Chair applicants should have prior Model United Nations experience, particularly at NMUN conferences. Full membership committees (GA1, GA2, GA3, IAEA, IOM, and UNEA) will hire two persons to serve as Co-Chairs.
