How can the community help the school district?
If you live in an area where school bus transportation is provided for your student’s school and you are able to bring your child to school, we ask that you Opt-Out of school bus transportation.
The 2020-21 Planning Guide for Schools released by the Minnesota Department of Education includes guidance regarding student transportation. This guidance asks school districts to limit the number of students on a bus to create as much space as possible between students, recognizing that it is not always feasible to have 6 feet of social distancing.
This will mean that the capacity of school buses will be reduced by as much as 50% and school districts do not have access to additional school buses. We are asking that families who are able, bring their children to school using means other than school bus transportation (i.e. carpool, walk, bike). This will help to ensure that all students who live in a busing area and whose family depends upon school bus transportation will be provided a safe ride to school.
