Dr. Jocelyn G.Henry-Whiteside Academic Scholarship

Dr. Henry-Whiteside is a Baltimore, MD native and recieved a Bachelor of Science degree and Post Master's Certificcate in Education from Virginia Commonweatlh University along with a Masters degree, Educational Specialist and Doctorate in Higher Education from The College of William and Mary. Dr. Henry-Whiteside is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Dr. Jocelyn Henry-Whiteside has served as a Baltimore City Police Officer, a Corporate Trainer, Museum Educator, Music Teacher, an Assistant Principal, Head Start Director, and an Adjunct Professor. 

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

Application Eligibility

Each Applicant must:

• A graduating minority female senior enrolled in a high school located in the Metro Richmond and surrounding areas (Chesterfield & Henrico).
•  Possess a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale
• Accepted to a full-time study at an accredited four year college or university and provide proof of acceptance.

Selection Criteria

•  Applicant must submit an official high school transcript
• Applicant must submit two (2) letters of recommendation. One must be from a teacher or counselor.
• Applicant must demonstrate community involvement made in both school and community.
• Applicant must submit a headshot
• Applicant must submit a minimum of 500 word essay discussing the following topics:
  •  Describe your future plans and how your college education will support you in achieving your goals. 
• Applicant must use official Scholarship Application.
•  The application package must be completed no later than the deadline of April 22, 2023.
