Scholarship Criteria
1. Scholarship recipients must be members of the Kiamichi Electric Cooperative or live in the household of a KEC member.
2. All students receiving scholarship funds must be enrolled in a state-accredited community college, university, or CareerTech in Oklahoma or a school from a neighboring state that charges in-state tuition to Oklahoma students.
3. Scholarship recipients must be full-time students of such a college or university, enrolled in 12 hours or more per semester.
4. Students receiving ORU scholarship funds must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 in their major area of concentration.
Scholarship funding will be used only for college or university tuition costs, books, and other classroom-related items as approved by the foundation.
5. KEC Foundation board members may choose to interview finalists before the awarding of scholarships each year. The finalists will be judged on these criteria:
- Financial Need
- Grade Point Average
- Leadership Skills: and
- Participation in extra-curricular activities
6. If a student selected to receive a scholarship cannot complete their education, the funds will be returned to the foundation.
7. Finalists agree to provide a picture to be published in a cooperative publication and local newspaper.
The deadline for applying is April 1st
Funds will not be sent to the school until after the institution's drop date.
Suppose a student changes schools after scholarship submissions. In that case, it will be the student's responsibility to inform the cooperative and provide the correct name and mailing address of the higher education institution the student is now attending.
