• 2023 Arizona Wine Growers’ Association Governor’s Cup

    The purpose of the Governor’s Cup is to level the playing field for all wineries. It will seek to find and celebrate the best wines Arizona has to offer. In doing so we will bring publicity and awareness to Arizona wines.

  • Review and read the AZ Wine Competition Rules: All wines submitted must be made entirely with Arizona-grown grapes (100%). Contest fee is $50 per entry for the first 8 entries. The fee for additional entries will be $100. Fees should be paid to the Arizona Wine Growers Association. A portion of your fees will go towards expenses involved in putting on the competition. Any remaining funds from fees will be utilized by the AWGA to promote and advocate for Arizona wines. Competing wineries must be licensed as farm wineries by the state of Arizona. This competition is being organized and operated by the AWGA with proctor Chris Nielson. Wines must be labeled with an Arizona appellation. Judges will determine a Best-In-Show winner. Categorical winners – red, white, rose, -- will receive an award and trophy. If there are enough entries for Sparkling, Orange and Dessert they will be awarded as categorical winners as well.Each category must receive a minimum of three entries for judging to occur. If a category does not receive enough entries, wines will not compete in a specific category but go on to be judges for 'best of'. Three 750ml (or equivalent) bottles of wine must be submitted for each entry. Entries must have an approved COLA. Entries that do not have an approved COLA at the time of judging will not be awarded medals. Entries must be finished wine. Based on judges’ discretion, wines will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.Other awards will be given out for varietals and blends, with categories determined based on entries received. Winery must make up to 2 cases of each wine entered available to the AWGA for purchase at wholesale price, at the discretion of the AWGA. Winery agrees to sell their submitted wines to the AWGA at wholesale price for retail sales. Photos uploaded on this form may be used for promotional material by the AWGA.*
