The primary guidance for the use of these funds is to support Faculty and Staff efforts to improve student experiences and success. Faculty and Staff are encouraged to apply for student equity funds to attend equity-related conference opportunities. Priority will be given to applicants who meet the following criteria: 1) Applicants attending or participating with students, 2) Conference focuses on equity issues or an equity population with the largest equity gaps at Butte College (African American, Asian, Filipino, First-Generation, Foster Youth, Homeless, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, Low-income, Multi-ethnic, Native American, Pacific Islander, Students with Disabilities, Veterans), and 3) Applicants who manage a specific equity program or project.

In an effort to share key takeaways from conferences, it is an expectation that individuals that attend a conference funded by Student Equity will participate in a Flex Week presentation.

All out of state travel within the contiguous 48 states requires Vice President approval. Travel to Alaska and Hawaii requires approval of the Superintendent/President. All requests for international travel will be presented to the Board for approval based on the recommendation of the Superintendent/President. The applicant is responsible for ensuring appropriate approvals are in place before travel begins.

If using a personal vehicle to drive to the airport or conference please calculate total cost for mileage ($.67 per mile). Traveling to Sacramento Airport mileage from Chico Center mileage is 164 miles ($109.88) and from Main Campus mileage is 160 miles ($107.20). If you are driving in a personal vehicle all the way to the conference please put in roundtrip cost for mileage from your home address, Chico Center , Glen Center, or Main Campus (whichever is the shortest distance).*
