Ensure you have a appropriate, level area for assessing the horse statically, in-hand and ridden without distraction. An indoor arena is not essential but rain or extreme weather may cause cancellation if one is not available.
The rider must be present, anyone under 18 years old must have a guardian present.
Walk, trot and canter are essential to the level of service that can be provided to you on the day. Obviously we dont expect that you ride a unbroken horse. We are happy to work with your limitation.
Horse being asses needs to be dry, free from mud, well and sound. Suitable body score to be ridden and free from injury.
Tack such as girths, irons, leathers, saddle blankets can alter a fitting. Please ensure you have all regular riding gear for both horse and rider. Riders must wear riding boots and helmet in accordance with the EA/PCAV Rules.
Your horse may need some practice to be able to stand square for assessment, you must be able available to present your horse, not leave it tied up eating for measurements to be gathered correctly. You must be in control of your horse to ensure safety for everyone.
Be honest
If you have any concerns about your horses’ and your own health or injuries, the saddle fitter needs to know so that they can take them into consideration when selecting potential saddles. It can make a world of difference!
Be open minded
Quite often, the type of saddle you may feel you need, isn’t always the case. Be prepared to take some constructive advice and guidance. After all, the saddle fitter is there to ensure you achieve exactly what you need from your appointment and importantly, to protect your horses’ health.
