Scholarship Guidelines and Requirements

2026

1. Requirements:
- The applicant must reside in the Richmond Metropolitan area and attend a high school in the City of Richmond, Chesterfield, Henrico, Goochland or Hanover Counties.
- The applicant must be a college-bound graduating senior.
- The applicant must be an African-American Male.
- The applicant must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7
- The applicant must be accepted to an accredited two or four year college or university.
2. Application packets will not be considered unless they are complete. A complete packet consists of:
- Official copy of current high school transcript
- Academic resume with clubs and activities
- One passport size photo attached
- Copy of SAT or ACT scores (if taken)
- Copy of college/university acceptance letter
- Two letters of recommendation from adult non-family members
- Applicant profile form
- Applicant package checklist
- 600 word (minimum) essay (typewritten, double spaced, 12-point font with title/cover page) on the following topic:
  
  Explain your need for this scholarship, as well as detailed plans for your future? Please use this essay to highlight any circumstances that may adversely affect your pursuit of higher education.
3. Further Instruction:
- The scholarship award will be delivered directly to the student or authorized family member, after proof of school enrollment.
- Children of members affiliated with Upsilon Nu Chapter of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. are not eligible for these scholarships.
