• RENOVATIONS AND UPGRADES INSPECTION CHECKLIST 

    NYCHA / PACT – Eastchester Gardens – Community Oversight Program 
  • Use this checklist once when construction is finished in a building or set of apartments.

    Instructions

    • Walk through at least five upgraded apartments and common areas with a Resident Council member if possible. 
    • Be detailed — this inspection happens only once per building. 
    • Please explain in notes if something was missing, late, or poorly done. 
    • If a question is not relevant to the apartment or building you are inspecting, please select not applicable.

  • For each section, indicate whether apartment renovations and upgrades were Completed, Somewhat Completed, Not Completed, or Not Applicable. Each section includes examples of what renovations and upgres could include.

  • Kitchen

    Kitchen renovations and upgrades could include the following:

    Appliances: Refrigerator, stainless steel stove, microwave range hood.
    Fixtures: New faucets, stainless steel sink.
    Cabinets: Wood cabinets.
    Other: New countertops, backsplash.

    Bathroom 

    Bathroom renovations and upgrades could include the following:

    Fixtures: New toilet, faucet, shower head and shower arm.
    Tub & Shower: New Bath Fitter tub, tile surround, and wainscot.
    All leaks repaired and new sheetrock installed before new tubs and tiles are installed.
    Other: New vanity, sink bowl, towel bar, toilet paper holder, robe hook, grab bar, mirrored medicine cabinet.

  • Lobby, stairs, and elevators renovations and upgrades could include the following.

    Lobby: Renovated entries, new front doors, accessibility upgrades, bulletin boards.

    Stairs: Repaired, repainted, and refinished stairwells, new rubber stair treads, risers, and landings for open stairs.

    Elevators: Modernized elevators to comply with ADA accesibility standards.

    Public Kitchens: New refrigerators, microwaves, sinks, floors, backsplashes, countertops, cabinets.

  •  Outdoor and Play Area upgrades could include the following.

    • Repaired and repaved walking pathways to remove trip hazards
    • Landscaping upgrades including tree trimming and lawn repair
    • Upgraded benches and additional seating areas
    • New signage clearly marking building addresses and names
    • Repaired fencing to ensure safety and security
