Scholarship Details
The Nebraska VFW Managed Scholarship is awarded annually in varying amounts, based on available funding and individual applicant qualifications.
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:
Financial Need
Consideration will be given to applicants demonstrating a gap between financial aid awarded and the total cost of education.
Leadership & Community Service
Active participation and leadership in school, community, veterans-related organizations, or other civic activities.
Commitment to Service
Demonstrated support for veterans, military families, or community-focused initiatives aligned with VFW values.
Academic Achievement
Applicants must show the ability to succeed in a post-secondary educational environment.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a graduating high school senior or current post-secondary student who is or is related to a Nebraska VFW/Auxiliary member and who has completed twenty-four (24) credit hours or will be completing their freshman year in college.
- Be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational program
Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (or higher if you want to raise the bar)
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Submit a complete application, including all required documentation
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed and selected by a committee appointed by the Nebraska VFW. Final decisions will be based on the overall strength of the application, including demonstrated need, leadership, and alignment with the mission of the VFW.
