Pecha Kucha Night was devised in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has turned into a worldwide celebration with events happening in hundreds of cities , inspiring creatives around the globe. Drawing it’s name from the Japanese term for ‘chit chat’, it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 slides x 20 seconds each. It’s a format that makes presentations concise and keeps the evening moving at a rapid pace.
Presenters usually include some combination of the following - creative projects / artwork / graphic analysis / architecture / theater...but we are interested in anything presenters are excited about. Lots of folks do interesting things or work for creative companies but we want to know the story behind what it is that makes you tick and/or how it is relevant for us local Knoxvillians.
Our most successful presenters are those whom have an interesting concept and story tell in a dynamic way. Participating in Pecha Kucha Night is an opportunity to share your passion and purpose rather than advertise your business. Instead of selling your idea or product, share with us the story behind it and why you are passionate about it. If you have never attended a Pecha Kucha Night before, we recommend you watch a few of the top presentations from around the world here - www.pechakucha.org/watch.
We generally have 200+ people in attendance. This event is a great way for the creative folks in Knoxville to network, show their work, and be inspired. Pecha Kucha Night Knoxville is organized by a coalition of volunteers. Please help us grow and thrive by sending creative presenters our way.
