Tutoring and advisory services are offered by Prism's Academic Advisor, Alena Rose Solenne, M.Ed.
Alena received her Masters Degree in Education from Antioch University, New England. She is certified in traditional public school education, Integrated Learning, and in Waldorf pedagogy. She taught in both public and private schools before moving to Charlottesville, and taught at the Charlottesville Waldorf School.
Alena has served the homeschooling community of the Shenandoah Valley since 2014 as teacher and private tutor. She has taught a wide variety of classes at several local homeschooling cooperatives.
Alena is available to tutor children or adults of any age, in most any subject. She specializes in upper elementary and middle school math, emerging reading, and middle and high school writing. She also offers services as a curriculum consultant for parents who may need guidance in supporting their child’s progress and development. She is able to perform both qualitative and quantitative assessments. These assessments can give parents a general picture of where their child is academically and developmentally, as well as providing specific metrics.
Tutoring and advising are sold in packages of 4 or 8 hours during the summer. Families may utilize the hours they purchase for tutoring, advising, and assessment as they desire. A family with multiple children may choose to divide the hours purchased between their children.
