Charge:
The Sustainability Advisory Committee shall be responsible for helping to facilitate the successful design, implementation and evaluation of the Triple Bottom Line (social justice, healthy environments and strong economies) to promote and support sustainability education and sustainable policies and practices throughout the Association, including ACPA convention and on-site professional development events. The committee will also be charged to review nominations for the Sustainability Champion Awards to be awarded annually at convention.
Advisory Committee members will review, assess, plan, and recommend sustainability educational programming and scholarship for Association membership to both advance members knowledge, skills and awareness on sustainability and environmental justice (as it relates to the Strategic Imperative on Racial Justice and Decolonization), and in order to provide them with the tools necessary to make change on their campuses. In addition, the Sustainability Advisory Committee will identify and advise ACPA regarding practices and policies that if implemented will allow the Association to function as a more sustainable organization.
This Advisory Committee will strive to provide a forum for ongoing discussions of new initiatives and existing programs and to integrate these across the Association. The group will provide essential monitoring both inside and outside the Association to gain input for Association efforts from a wide range of disciplinary and programmatic perspectives.
Timeline:
The Sustainability Advisory Committee will commence its work starting in August 2019, meeting virtually monthly, and in person at annual Conventions. It is expected that the chair will provide an annual written update at each Convention to the members of the Governing Board. The members at-large will serve a two year term.
