  • $1,000 One-Time Gift to a Female Graduating High School Senior or Current College Student

The Liz Sadler Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of a long-time member of Westport Road Baptist Church, Laura Elizabeth Sadler, who passed away at the age of 95 on January 14, 2018. The WRBC Woman’s Missionary Union created this scholarship in her memory in 2019. This scholarship is to be a blessing to women in our church. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a female graduating high school senior or current college student who is an involved member at WRBC. This scholarship will honor Liz’s greatest passions in life: athletics, education, and mission involvement. Liz was a pioneer in girls’ sports in Kentucky. She was inducted into the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1994, and was the past president of the Kentucky Athletic Health Physical Education & Recreation Program. Liz went on to coach girls’ basketball, volleyball, track & field, and cheerleading. Liz was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and taught at Campbellsville College. Most of her teaching career was at University Breckinridge School in Morehead. She also taught at Campbellsville High School and Montgomery County High School in Mt. Sterling. In her retirement, Liz served as a missionary with the International Mission Board in Mauritius in East Africa, and also in Jonesville, VA. She was an active member of WRBC’s Woman’s Missionary Union.
