  • About This Team Handbook

  • Purpose of the Team Policy Handbook

    • The purpose of this Team Policy Handbook is to bring together in a convenient place a summary of some of the policies that affect team members. Team members should read this handbook and become familiar with the content. Team members should be comfortable referring to the handbook whenever a question regarding employment with PetWow arises. However, the handbook will not answer all of the questions team members may have about PetWow policies or benefits. If the handbook does not answer the question, team members should contact their manager or Human Resources for assistance.

    Supersession & Revision

    • This handbook revokes and supersedes any prior summaries or statements of employment policies and procedures. PetWow expects to revise and update this handbook from time to time. PetWow will advise team members of changes or additions or deletions in policies and procedures covered in this handbook by circulating such changes or additions or deletions either in writing or electronically.

Team Handbook is Not a Contract

    • This handbook is not a contract of employment. It does not promise or guarantee any particular benefit or specific action. As explained in this handbook, all employment with PetWow is “at will”, unless expressly stated otherwise within a written contract. This means that PetWow or the employee may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. In addition, employees may be demoted, job duties may be changed, or benefits altered at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice.

    Authority to Establish Employment Contracts

    • Only the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operations Officer (COO), or Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) may enter into an agreement for employment for a specified period of time, or represent and agree that employment with PetWow is not at-will, so long as such representation or agreement is in writing and signed by the CEO.

  • Scheduling Priorities

    • Taking Care of PetWow Clients
      • Like any business that serves the public, our first priority, when constructing a team Schedule, is to make sure that our hours of operation are sufficient to meet the pet care needs of our clientele. I have added new text
    • Taking Care of Our Team
      • Beyond that first priority, our next scheduling goal is to make sure that each team member is treated as fairly as possible from a scheduling perspective. We want to make sure that team members get the hours they were hired for, while also making sure that a reasonable work-life balance is being maintained. We want to make sure that shifts and schedule rotations are distributed fairly. We want to be sure that schedule changes are communicated clearly and with proper notice to each team member. Above all, we want to make sure that our scheduling policies are transparent and communicated clearly to each team member from the moment they join our team. And I added even more. This is yet another update. Here is some more text. Now I am going to add a lot more text. Ray Added more Information.

Scheduling By Location & Scheduling Groups

    • Scheduling by Location
      • Let’s begin by looking at some of the core factors that impact how team schedules are constructed.
        • Non-Veterinarian & Non-Professional Groomer Team members
          • Other than Veterinarians and Professional Pet Groomers, team members are scheduled to work at the same PetWow location on a consistent basis. That is to say; other than for Veterinarians and Professional Pet Groomers, the scheduling team will never create a long-term or permanent schedule where a team member splits their workdays between two or more PetWow locations. This not only brings greater consistency and simplicity to each team member’s schedule, but it also fosters stronger working relationships and more consistent client experiences.
            • Short-Term Exceptions: The only circumstances under which the scheduling team may temporarily schedule a non-Veterinarian or non-Pet Groomer team member to work at a location other than their normal base location are:
              • To assist with an unexpected same-day emergency by filling a role at an alternate location that cannot be covered by others already working there.
              • To assist with vacation coverage for a role at an alternate location that cannot be covered by others already working there.
              • To cover a vacated role at another location while a replacement is hired and trained.
              • Again, these are always temporary situations. They are also rare since the scheduling team will always first try to meet such needs by utilizing team members that normally work at the relevant location. Finally, when a team member is occasionally called upon to temporarily assist at another location, additional pay is typically provided to compensate for additional fuel costs and travel time.
            • Veterinarians & Professional Groomer Team Members
              • Things are slightly different with team veterinarians and pet groomers. Since appointment booking for veterinary care and pet grooming (whether for “walk-in” or mobile appointments) depends upon the availability of both licensed veterinarians and credentialed pet groomers, it sometimes happens that a veterinarian or a pet groomer may have a long-term schedule where they are scheduled to work at multiple locations on a consistent basis. This typically happens when a particular PetWow location or PetWow’s mobile care operations are going through a growth phase where veterinary care appointment demand or pet grooming appointment demand requires a few extra days of veterinarian or pet groomer availability, but is not
