Zak Johnson is a singer/songwriter/musician from Eugene, Oregon who has taught private and group music lessons since 2003, including the celebrated Music’s Edge camps held every summer at the W.O.W. Hall inEugene.
Largely self taught as a youth, he relied on talent and his keen ear to get into groups where he learned music fundamentals. In his formative years, he was taken under the wing of several notable local talents such as Cedric Weary, Nathan Waddell, Mark Schneider, Olem Alves and Gus Russell, who showed him the finer points of the music world. Zak received a large part of his education onstage.
Zak has recorded and toured throughout the West as a bassist and guitarist with various groups, including: Mood Area 52, Sam Hahn, U of O Gospel Ensemble, Abakadubi, Olem Alves Band, West Coast Rhythm Kings, Walker T. Ryan, the Deb Cleveland Band and his own group, The Dead Americans. He has written, arrangedand produced three of his own recordings, including two full-length albums.
Lessons with Zak help students broaden their perspective of music, understand fundamental musical concepts, and most important: have fun and find your unique voice with music!
