Workshop details:

SafeAssign is a plagiarism prevention service offered by Blackboard. After instructors learn about SafeAssign and Wilmington University’s Academic Integrity policy, they can set up SafeAssignments in their Blackboard course. Once papers are submitted, they are checked against databases of source material.

This service can detect unoriginal content in written work, which in turn, helps students identify where to properly attribute sources. SafeAssign is a deterrent to plagiarism, but most importantly can serve as a teaching tool. Often students don’t take time to go back and cite their sources. This is where SafeAssign helps, it will force the students to take a look at their paper and make sure it is properly cited.
