• I'm new. What is J.A.M. all about, and why should I register my kid?
    • We have an easy-to-follow and interactive guide to our program. All you have to do is click here to get started. Welcome to our basketball family!

    • I have a referee issue.
    • We have feedback forms specifically designed for issues concerning our referees. This feedback is not only sent to the entire JAM Staff, but is also forwarded to each of our referee coordinators so that the issue is resolved ASAP. You can click here to get started, or use the navigation menu above: Customer Relations >> Referees.

    • My team's standings are inaccurate.
    • Click here to report any inaccuracies in the standings. This link is also found on the main standings page.

    • My team has a scheduling conflict.
    • You must put in a cancellation request. We're very good at rescheduling games and the chances you'll get another game are very high, but we make no promises. The earlier your request is placed, the higher your chances are of receiving an extra game. To be fair to the other team - who we presume would've showed and shoudn't be forced to reschedule - they would receive the win. To cancel a game, you can click here, or navigate via Team Management >> Cancellation.

    • How do I get placed on a team? Can I play with a friend?
    • Enter your player with our Free Agency, and we will send your info out to all the teams that enter our league. Please be patient, as many teams wait until the last second to register. Once placed on a team, there should be no extra fees besides maybe a few dollars per practice to pay for the facility. Sometimes teams do ask for extra costs for gym time, coaching fees, jerseys, and yearly fees.

    • How many practices are there per week?
    • Practices are left up to the coaches of the teams. We do not provide practice facilities, but we do provide insurance for the gym. Most coaches have one per week.

    • What days/times are the games usually played?
    • Most of the league plays games on Sundays. We do offer weeknight games for teams who request it or have no preference. Games on Sundays are played from 9am to 8pm. Monday through Thursday games are played from 6pm to 9pm. Because of the diversity of locations and preferences of every JAM team, no one is guaranteed 100% compliance with requests... but we will strive for that mark.

    • Does J.A.M. provide extra players, and when are they assigned?
    • Check our Free Agency page for extra players.

    • What is the cost? And what does this cost go towards?
    • Registration is $130 per player, with a required minimum of 8 players. If you need a uniform it is an additional $55. Team paying for all their players in one payment get huge discounts. Fees go up with late registration, and ordering a uniform online carries with it additional charges.

      These fees pay for gyms, referees, insurance, uniforms, and other things that make our league possible.

    • What's the playoff system like? What about ties in the standings?
    • No tournament games are scheduled until ALL standings have been finalized. For the approximate dates, please see our upcoming events section.

      Teams 9th grade and up play in a single elimination tournament. Teams 3rd through 8th grade are guaranteed 2 games. Your first game is a play in game to determine which side of the bracket you go to. There are two sides, a consolation and a winners bracket. If you win your first game you go into the winners bracket but if you lose the first one you go into the consolation side.

      In the event of a tie in standings, the following criteria are used in this order:

      (1.) Head-to-head competition;
      (2.) Strength of teams beaten;
      (3.) Strength of teams lost

      The brackets are set up a bit differently than a traditional bracket might be so that every team plays in the first round (unless there is an odd amount of teams in a division) in which case a first round bye is awarded. It is done this way to allow for a consolation side of the bracket.

      [EXAMPLE] A traditional bracket for 11 teams would have you guys (the #7 seed) playing a first round game against the 10th seed to see who moves on to play the #2 seed in the second round. In essence, we assumed that you guys beat the 10 seed and moved on to play the 7 seed, whom you are playing as it stands now.

      [NOTE] As far as seeding a team moving up in a division, we always seed those teams in the middle of the pack because they are usually very good teams who got into a lower division at the start of the season and dominated. We would not want to seed them too low, because then the top seeds could run into them early in the brackets and this is not fair to the teams who have earned a high seed.

    • How do we get uniforms, and what are the colors/sizes/extras?
    • We have 4 more uniform pickup times/locations as well during the first two weeks of the season. For dates, locations, and times, please refer to the main page's list of scheduled events. Purchasing uniforms online has additional charges, so please show up to one of these pickup times.

      You can use your own team uniforms if you would like, only if they all have different numbers and are the same color.

      The uniform includes a reversible blue/white mesh top, mesh shorts, and a JAM basketball bag. All sizes are adult sizes, small, medium, large, and extra large.
