Continuing Education Units (C.E.U.)
About
Continuing Education Units (CEU) are awarded participants in non-degree programs of continuing education. The amount is calculated by the number of hours spent in lecture and workshop settings. CEU credits are based on the number of instructional clock hours received. "A CEU is defined as ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience ..."
The minimum number of CEUs which normally may be earned through one activity is 0.5 (that means 5 contact hours). Candler School of Theology will not record awards of fewer than 0.5 CEUs.
When decimal amounts of CEUs are awarded it is incorrect to designate more than one digit following the decimal. For example, 1.5 CEUs' is a correct award, but 1.56 is an incorrect award. The assigned hours are determined by the Academic Programs Associate of Lifelong Learning, Candler School of Theology.
The Office of Public Theological Education (Candler Foundry), Candler School of Theology, Emory University, will award CEUs for clergy and laity events sponsored by outside groups which meet the following criteria:
· A Candler School of Theology Faculty member (active or emeritus) is part of the leadership of the event (teaching or administration).
Processing Fee
A $25 per person processing fee is assessed for persons receiving the C.E.U.
Suggested wording for event publicity:
“Based on full participation, ____ CEUs will be awarded to all attendees by Office of Public Theological Education, Candler School of Theology, Emory University.”
