  • Wichita HOT 2024 Class Submission

  • This form is for the submission of class proposals for Wichita HOT 2024. All submissions will be reviewed and responded to in April.

If you want to offer multiple classes, please complete this form for each class.

    IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING:

We want to make it clear upfront what our event is about and what it is NOT about. If you feel your tactics or ideals do not line up with our event, we respect that but please do not submit.

    What we believe in:

    • Aggressive fire tactics that provide victims with the best possible chance of survival.
    • Classes centered on engine work, truck work, vehicle extrication, and rescue skills make up the core of our event. We're always open to motivation lectures or other unusual topics. We are unlikely to select classes which focus on EMS or administrative issues. These things may be important but they are not the focus of our conference.
    • Providing excellent training at a reasonable cost to students.
    • Tradition, Honoring Our Nation and Respect
    • Brother and Sisterhood

What you can expect from us if selected:

    • You'll meet a lot of very engaged, passionate firefighters who care about what we do. They'll come from all manner and size of department, both career and volunteer, from across the country. We are deeply appreciative of those that contribute and its not uncommon for instructors to walk away having made some new friends.
    • You'll be provided a local liaison to help you get ready for your class and answer any questions you might have.
    • You'll be offered comfortable accommodations and paid promptly for efforts.
    • We'll make every effort to provide you with what you need to make your class awesome. If we can't provide something, we'll let you know ASAP.
    • We'll make every effort to provide you with facilities that match your needs including acquired structures. If we can't get you the structure you need, we have ever expanding props and facilities at our Regional Training Center that might meet your needs.

    What we're not interested in:

    • Instructors with no real world experience, valuable knowledge and/or ability. This is not the place to "fake it until you make it."
    • Instructors that act/believe they are movie stars. Keep it humble. We do want to hear about your experiences and knowledge. We all love war stories. But you're not the only one. You'll come into contact with some very experienced guys and gals from major departments from across the country. They're not going to be impressed with bragging, they're going to be impressed by what you know.
    • Instructors that are unnecessarily rude to staff/students or that act irresponsibly. The staff work hard to put this thing on and the students pay their hard earned money to attend. Let's do it right.
    • Instructors that are looking to make a lot of money off the event. We want you to be fairly compensated but this is a not-for-profit venture. If you run a related side business, we want you to be able to sell your stuff as well. But first and foremost, we're here for the good of the fire service.
    • Moving goal posts and criteria. We're going to be upfront with you, please be upfront with us. Please provide us with reasonable estimates for what it will take to put your class on and how many people you need to bring along. We can't offer you extra compensation after the fact for additional personnel you decide to bring last minute or because you decided to fly first class. We can't double your material requests but we will make every effort to cover reasonable eventualities that come up. We're willing to work with you, just let us know what to expect.

  • This information is used to decided whether or not your class is selected and if selected, it will be the same information placed on our website so students know what to expect.

Please help us accurately estimate the cost of your class. For hands-on classes, we do bulk lumber and supply purchases, as well as any other consumable materials. Its important that we get a rough estimate for these costs so we can set our budget when selecting classes. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!
