  • GOALS OF THE KESHET TRAINING INSTITUTE

  • Keshet works for the full inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Jews in Jewish life. Through our Hineini Education Project, Keshet offers training and workshops to Jewish educators about creating Jewish communities that are affirming and inclusive of GLBT youth and adults. The Institute for Jewish Educators brings together those working with Jewish youth and families in a variety to settings to enhance the capacity of Jewish educators, and the institutions they represent, to create GLBT inclusive cultures. (Prior knowledge about issues related to sexual orientation or gender diversity is not necessary for participation in the program.)
  • By the end of the Training Institute, participants will be able to:
  • 1. Better understand relationships between Jewish identites and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender identities and how to articulate these relationships for a variety of Jewish audiences;
  • 2. Use Keshet Hineini Education Project resources and materials to create and facilitate staff trainings and educational programs about the experiences of LGBT Jews and what it means to be a fully inclusive Jewish community for Jewish educators and youth;
  • 3. Develop and implement action plans for creating Jewish communities that affirm and celebrate LGBT members, their identities, experiences, and relationships.

We also strongly suggest that you initiate a conversation with this person to discuss the goals of the Training Institute and ideas for bringing the programs to your community. Keshet staff is happy to assist you with materials to support you.
