The residential HVAC system is designed for typical use as defined by 2009 ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals, Chapter 17: Residential Heating and Cooling Load Calculations: - Normal occupancy (i.e., number of bedrooms plus one); AND - Additional safety factors were not used in calculation; AND - Internal gains through lighting and appliances are minimal.
The design conditions used for this project are the 99.0% design temperatures used in the 2009 ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals Chapter 14: Climatic Design Information for the project’s location OR provide supporting documentation (e.g., local code and weather data) proving that prevailing local practice by the HVAC industry uses other weather data."
Indoor design temperatures are 70° F in the winter and 75° F in the summer.
Whole house infiltration and duct infiltration are set to “tight,” reflecting the programmatic requirements for tight construction verified with field testing.
Building envelope insulation R-values and component U-values reflect construction specifications.
Ventilation is designed to meet ASHRAE 62.2 2007
