Report a Problem with an Indiana Historical Marker

Under Indiana Code 4-23-7.2-11, historical markers in the state format are the property of the Indiana Historical Bureau. Prior to 1989, many markers carried only the name of the group that funded the marker, which has been cause for confusion. Some markers placed by the Indiana Civil War Centennial Commission-though not in the current state format-also are the property of the Historical Bureau. You may contact the Indiana Historical Bureau regarding maintenance or other issues related to historical markers in Indiana. If the marker is not under our purview, we will gladly assist you in finding the marker's custodian.
