  • When working for a Tasmanian Electrictricity Supply Industry  company Tamar Valley Power you need to hold Power System Safety Rules Instructed Person Authorisation. This is achieved by completing competency based training and completing a mandatory assessment.

    NOTE: Application details are reviewed and crossed checked against existing TESI records. The issuing of the login access Username and Password usually takes up to one (1) hour to process but can take up to  six (6) hours based on the number of requests or data checks to be confirmed.

    IMPORTANT NOTICE CHANGE TO INSTRUCTED PERSON- WORKING FOR TASNETWORKS IN TASMANIA

    TASNETWORKS has changed their requirements to access to the Power System Safety Rules (PSSR) Instructed Person training. They only provide training to persons who work for a company that holds a "Preferred Contractor" contract with TasNetworks.

    Please note: The TasNetworks Training Centre is only contactable between 8:00am -4:00pm Monday to Friday (Excluding Public Holidays). TasNetworks has no after hours or weekend support available.

    Persons requiring URGENT after-hours access to become a TasNetworks Instructed Person should contact your TasNetworks Project Manager.

    CONTRACTORS WORKING FOR TASNETWORKS/NBN- INSTRUCTED PERSON CONTACT AND REGISTRATION

    TasNetworks has changed the process for a person who needs to hold TasNetworks Instructed Person Authorisation.

    New Instructed Person (I have never been an Instructed Person)

    Person working for TasNetworks or on TasNetworks projects wishing to gain the TasNetworks Instructed Person authorisation for the first time must now complete a face to face training session at TasNetworks Training Centre Hobart.

    Persons holding current Instructed Person authorisation

    Existing Instructed Persons authorisation for persons working for TasNetworks, now expires after three years from the certificate issue date or ESI Passport validation date.

    Refresher training is required via TasNetworks prior to expiry. To arrange refresher training Call TasNetworks Training.

  • IMPORTANT NOTICE IF YOU WILL BE WORKING FOR HYDRO TASMANIA

    Hydro Tasmania are no longer a member of the Tasmania Electricty Supply Industry (TESI) and do not use the Power System Safety Rules (PSSR).

    Hydro Tasmania have created their own seperate permit system and training.  You will need to contact your Hydro Tasmania project supervisor to arrange face to face training "by appointment".  Hydro Tasmania call there courses Hydro Instructed Person and Hydro Person In Charge.

    The Power System Safety Rules accreditation is required by TESI signatory companies TasNetworks, Tamar Valley Power and  NBNCO.

    What if I work for TasNetworks, Tamar Valley Power, NBNCO AND Hydro Tasmania?

    You will need to do the TESI PSSR Instructed Person Person course for TasNetworks, Tamar Valley Power & NBNCO and the seperate face to face permit course for Hydro Tasmania.

  • The Australian Electrical Supply Industry (ESI) has adopted a nationally consistent practices in training standards for safe work on electricity networks and and common refresher training. For security and validation, individuals are verified in the AESI passport applicationand issue process. All training, validation and accreditation is recorded in the passport.
