1. What business are you in? What specific need does your product or service fulfill?
Eg. We sell greeting cards. Customers buy our cards online for a happy or sad occasion for a friend. Our products are unique because there are fresh flowers inside the cards.
2. What are the business goals? (Try the S.M.A.R.T. method, where you write goals that are Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, and Time-sensitive)
Aim for 1 or 2 Short Term, and 1 or 2 Medium Term, and 1 or 2 Long Term if possible.
3. How do you define success? When do we know that we've reached the goals?
Eg. Success is 12 new leads per month or $38,000 in sales per month, or doubling our website traffic in 6 months, or when I can afford to hire more staff.
4. Who is your customer? Describe them: male/female, age, education, financial picture, interests?
Eg. Women, 25-55, any education, mid-high family income, gardening, traveling, photography, wine.
5. Where do you sell your products/offer your services?
6. Who is your competition? List a few specific company names and websites if possible.
