The Oklahoma Star Committee in Conjunction with the Phil Gardenhire PRCA Rodeo Committee is searching for talented singers.
Contestants will perform in a pre-elimination round hosted by Warehouse Willy’s, 300 Dewey Ave, Poteau, Oklahoma on August 10th, 11th, & 12th at 7:00 PM.
The Top 10 Contestants will advance to the 11th Annual Phil Gardenhire PRCA Rodeo on August 13th & 14th.
5 Contestants will perform each night. One winner will be chosen out of each 5 and the final 2 Contestants will go head to head at the finals before the Bull Riding Event on Saturday Night, August 14th.
The 1st Place Winner will receive a cash prize, studio recording time and a chance to compete in the Arkansas/Oklahoma State Fair in September.
The 2nd Place Winner will also receive a cash prize and a chance to compete in the Arkansas / Oklahoma State Fair in September.
Contest Rules
YOU MUST BE 16 YEARS OR OLDER TO ENTER! (If a question arises, an original Birth Certificate will be requested.)
If You are Selected as a Top 10 Contestant
You must certify (if requested to do so), not to have:
- A contract for talent/talent manager
- A music recording contract
- Acting/modeling contract
- Merchandising agreement
Contestants must agree that the decision of the judges and contest officials are final and they will follow the instructions or the directions of the judges/contests officials throughout the contest. Failure to do so will result in IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.
The Oklahoma Star winner will perform the National Anthem at future OK Star events and will not be allowed to compete in future Oklahoma Star Competitions.
Each contestant will be allowed to perform a "signature song’ at the public stage audition. This song must have karaoke-type accompaniment in the form of a CD. The CD must have a total of (3) three recorded songs. The three songs will be performed throughout the competition. The CD will be presented at the time of the first elimination round and will REMAIN the property of the OK STAR until a winner is chosen. It is the responsibility of the contestant to make sure the CD is accurate and playable in an audio CD format. NO SINGING OVER AN ARTIST OR LIPSYNCING WILL BE PERMITTED. You may have a rendition that has back-up vocals if you desire. Each contestant is required to provide a picture and a one page bio that includes all contact information to be submitted upon tryout.
