We know that many staff are in school or managing multiple demands on their time, especially toward the end of summer. Please provide us with any details that may be helpful as we plan for summer (when your fall semester starts, any pre-planned obligations that you may need time away from work for). *
All 1870 Summer Staff roles are very physically active and largely outdoors in a farm setting. All staff will need to:
- work outdoors in intense / frequently changing weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
- traverse uneven terrain (hills, rocky fields, mud, etc.)
- move heavy items, such as feed bags and hay bales (typically weighing up to 50 pounds)
- be comfortable working closely with livestock (large animals such as alpacas, goats, and pigs)
- monitor their wellbeing and prepare for work appropriately (getting adequate rest, staying hydrated, dressing for weather and terrain)
