    2020 Excellence Grants Criteria
Jr Boys, Collegiate & Professional Players

  • In order to encourage the development of U.S. players we have designed USTA Player Development Excellence Grant criteria to award players for meeting criteria to develop into a top 100 professional player. Any U.S. player achieving the requirements listed below (based on the players age) will receive a grant. Players that meet one (1) of the criteria boxes below will receive $2000, once the player has met two (2) boxes the player will receive $3000 more and once a player meets three (3) boxes a player will receive $4000. Thus a player could earn a maximum of $9000 in 2020 based on his/her performance. Players may meet boxes in two age categories below for a maximum of 3 boxes or $9000 in 2020. Player will need to submit this form each time he/she meets one of the requirements listed below.

A player’s tournament result/ranking may only be used once for the requirements listed below and will only result in receiving one grant amount for each tournament result/ranking criteria.

Once a player is ranked in the Top 100 of the ATP/WTA Ranking you will no longer be able to receive any Excellence Grants.

  •                                                College Tennis
Players that complete four (4) years of collegiate tennis or players that decide to leave college prior to graduation can earn an excellence grant. Collegiate Grants will be paid out three times per year after 6, 12, and 18 months. The players ranking on those ranking dates will determine the payout. Once a player meets the ranking criteria listed below at the six, twelve or eighteen month mark a player will receive a payout based on their performance. A player could earn up to $4,500 during a 6-month period or a maximum of $9,000 in 2020. Return the attached form with your ranking information.

Players are only allowed to receive a grant in the age categories above or the College Tennis categories below. Players are not allowed to receive grants from both categories for the same ranking bullet.

Once a player is ranked in the Top 100 of the ATP/WTA Ranking in the 2020 year you will no longer be able to receive any Excellence Grants for the year of 2020.

  • Note: All players must be US citizens and eligible to represent the United States in International Team Competitions. Player must submit a W-9 and other supporting documentation to Karina Klein (kklein@usta.com ). Once we receive the request we will send a grant letter that will need to be signed and returned. All grant requests must be submitted by December 19, 2020 for the 2020 year. Only 2020 results may be submitted. It’s the sole responsibility of the player to submit the applications for the deadline stated above, grants will not be approved past the deadline. USTA Player Development has the final say in any requests submitted.
