Out of State

Thank you for your interest in our 2025 Wildland Firefighting program. We have had employees from others states in the past, who have enjoyed this seasonal adventure job, and will be happy to consider any that apply. Many have successfully traveled with out of state friends to share local accommodations ensuring their proximity to the dispatch point for quick mobilization to fire incidents.

Some have tried their hand at a more nomadic lifestyle while waiting for a fire dispatch call out and elected to camp, van-life, traveled with a truck and camper, couch surfed with local family and friends, or rented an Airbnb.

Below is additional information regarding the position that you might find helpful in planning your next adventure.

• This is an on-call position, and will need you to quickly respond to the point of dispatch.
• You will be compensated when you are assigned to an incident in travel status and when on assignment.
• We do not provide housing during training or the season (you would need to plan your own accommodations).
• We are a drug free company, and drug test during training and throughout the season. Includes marijuana.

**If you have wildland firefighting training or have fought fires in the past and are interested in joining our team. Follow these instructions.

Come to the first day of one of the following training sessions with your records. Your records will be reviewed and you will be interviewed to determine the days in which you will need to attend training to become certified for Miller Timber.

What is your availability after training for deployment to a fire assignment?

• I am available immediately after training for at least 14-21 consective days.
• I am a student but do not plan on attending Fall term.
• Keep in mind that unavailable days will limit your chance of getting out on an assignment.
