  • BIOGRAPHY OF MEDITATION TEACHER - BHANTE NYANARAMSI

    Bhante Nyanaramsi was ordained in 1995 at Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre, Yangon with Chanmyay Sayadaw as his preceptor. Bhante Nyanaramsi moved to Hmawbi branch in 1996 and continue his training under the abbot Sayadaw U Indaka ( now well known as Chanmyay Myaing Sayadaw ) and other resident Sayadaws. Bhante spent 9 vassas in Myanmar. In late 2003, Bhante accepted an invitation from SJBA to return to Malaysia to teach Dhamma and Satipatthana Vipassana Meditation to Malaysian Buddhist. Bhante also teaches Vipassana Meditation abroad, such as Thailand, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, USA and Canada.

  •  GENERAL RULES FOR YOGIS (MEDITATORS)

    Below are the rules that are to be strictly adhered to, for ensuring conducive practicing conditions and environment for the benefits of all yogis. Kindly read carefully and take note as the Organising Committee will enforce these rules during the retreat.

     

    1.   Yogis must observe NOBLE SILENCE at all times during the retreat.

     

    2.   To respect and support each other’s practice, yogis are not allowed to bring their mobile phones and other electronic devices to the Meditation Hall and Dining Hall.

     

    3.   Yogis must understand clearly and observe the Nine Precepts unless due to health reasons, you may observe Five Precepts.

     

    4.   Yogis must take the practice seriously and respectfully.

     

    5.   Yogis must strictly adhere to and practice according to the instructions given by the Meditation Teacher.

     

    6.   Yogis are required to follow and practice according to the Retreat Program and must not get involved in activities not related to meditation.

     

    7.   Any form of physical exercise or activity in the Meditation Hall which may cause disruption to the continuity of mindfulness and disturbance to other yogis should be avoided.

     

    8.   Reading of any material and writing should be kept to the absolute minimum because it can trigger off thinking during the practice.

     

    9.   Yogis must not report his/her practice to anyone except the Meditation Teacher.

     

    10. Going outside of the Meditation Premises is prohibited except receiving permission from the Meditation Teacher.

     

    11.  Indicate your request for your room sharing mate in the registration form for twin sharing room if any. Subsequence request for change of room will not be accepted unless it is absolutely necessary.

     

    12.  Briefing on the FIRST day of retreat at Goh Tong meditation hall tentatively at 10 am is compulsory by attendance

     

    13.  Visitors without permission from the organizing committee are not allowed during the retreat.

  • OBSERVANCE OF NINE PRECEPTS

    Yogis are required to observe 9 precepts during the retreat.

     

    THE NINE PRECEPTS (九戒)

     

    1) I undertake the precepts to refrain from killing living beings.

    (我愿遵守不杀生戒)

     

    2) I undertake the precepts to refrain from taking what is not given.

    (我愿遵守离不与取戒)

     

    3) I undertake the precepts to refrain from all kinds of sexual activities.

    (我愿遵守不淫戒)

     

    4) I undertake the precepts to refrain from false speech.

    (我愿遵守不妄语戒)

     

    5) I undertake the precepts to refrain from taking anything that causes intoxication and heedlessness.

     (我愿遵守不饮酒及不饮用一 切醉人之物戒)

     

    6) I undertake the precepts to refrain from taking *food after noon.

    (我愿遵守过午不食戒)

     

    7) I undertake the precepts to refrain from dancing, singing, music and any kind of entertainment shows, use of flowers, garlands, perfumes, unguents and things that tend to beautify and adore a person.

    (我愿遵守不歌舞唱伎、不故往观听、不着香花蔓、不香油涂身戒)

     

    8) I undertake the precepts to refrain from luxurious seats and beds.

    (我愿遵守不坐臥高广座位及大床戒)

     

    9) I shall let my mind dwell on thoughts of loving kindness – directing towards all living beings in the universe.

    (我安住在—从心中散发出慈心,遍满世间)

    Confirmation of registration is subject to payment (Payment is non-refundable, however finding your own replacement is accepted one week before the retreat)

Thereafter, please submit your transaction document/receipt via email to office@sjba.org or WhatsApp to Sis. Lily at 016-3379086 for our record purpose. Payment will be issued with an official receipt.
