Completing this application is a step in the process to acquiring a puppy from Van Dutches Dobermans, LLC, but it does not a guarantee you wil get a puppy from this or any future litter. While it's unlikely, the breeder reserves the right to refuse any placement at any time. Also, the Breeder, (Van Dutches Dobermans, LLC) reserves the right to first pick of any litter.
APPROVAL AND DEPOSIT: I will review applications in batches and it may be a few weeks after you submit it. Applications are processed in the order they are received. I do reach out to EVERY application- if there is something that isn't a fit or requires follow up questions, I will ask. If you have heard nothing, I haven't reviewed your application yet. I breed year round, but I will only accept deposits when puppies are born and thriving (usually 1-2 weeks after birth.) During pregnancy, approved homes will receive a notification to make a nominal commitment ($250) deposit on a puppy (or 50% the cost of the puppy if electing not to crop). Please make this deposit as soon as possible of the approval notification. The deposit carries over towards the full price of the dog. The balance is due on (or before) pick up.
YOUR PICK OF PUPPY: Puppy assignments are more complicated then just picking a color and sex. I wait until personalities start showing around 6 weeks of age. Depending on the season/weather, I occasionally throw puppy-pick visit days; but this is less likely when it's cold or rainy outside. I may use pictures/videos or descriptions of personalities to help each home pick the right pup for them.
GOING HOME: We cannot hold puppies for extended times; it is critical for their social development that the litter departs within a reasonable timeframe. If you have a big vacation planned or have events that would conflict with a young puppy, please know puppies cannot be boarded in a kennel until they have received their full immunizations and their rabies vaccination which cannot be done until 3 months of age. Any issues, please contact us in advance to work out a solution.
CONTRACT: a copy of the contract is included in the email you will receive prior to pick up. By taking pocession of a VDD puppy, you are agreeing to the terms.
SPAY/NEUTER: We recommend delaying spay/neuter to 2 years old unless your full AKC breeding rights approved prior to going home (at minimum 1 year old for males, and about 2 months after first heat for females). Breeding females should be spayed once their breeding days are over, to prevent pyometra.
REGISTRATION PAPERS: Our excellent family companions do come with registration papers to AKC registry. You are free to register your dog with the AKC under Limited or Full registration status (only as previously designated with Van Dutches Dobermans, LLC) should you desire to enter events and/or competitions. Both Limited and Full registered dogs can compete fully in all AKC events.
Pitctures: We ask that you send pictures and updates in the months and years to come. Any picture you send may be shared on VDD media or used as promotional marketing.
