  • Antifascist Library Network has a voluntary organizational structure.

Anyone in ALN can take on leadership roles or support others' projects as they choose. There are no obligations except what we decide to commit to each other. You can drop out of a project at any time, no questions asked (so long as you let folks know you're out so someone else can take on the role).

Whenever someone decides to take a leadership role on a particular topic or project, a new channel is created for that purpose. You can join or leave whichever channels you like whenever you want. If the channel creator hasn't posted in a while, you're welcome to pick up the torch of a leadership position in that channel and organize a new action.

If you have a new project in mind, you are encouraged to take on a leadership role in building support around addressing the need, facilitating dialogue on the issue, establishing a consensus on tactics with the group, delegating tasks to those committed to the action, and keeping everyone motivated and on task as best as possible.

We get out of ALN what we put into it. Every bit of effort counts.

These exist to give the community a clarity of purpose and to establish boundaries that make the space safer for marginalized people. If you cannot or do not agree to our Ground Rules, please do not submit this application. If you have questions about the Ground Rules, please email antifalibnet@protonmail.com.

  • Ground Rules

Antifascist Library Network (ALN) is a space for anyone involved in library, information science, archives, and museums work (including unemployed and non-professional workers, and including LIS students) who have antifascist values and believe the information science field can contribute to broader antifascist practice.

    This is a space for:

    • Leftist, Antifascist, and broader revolutionary and liberatory politics
    • Anti-oppression work, with anti-racism explicitly centered
    • Worker solidarity and student solidarity
    • Discussion, debate, and consensus building around tactics and strategy
    • Coordination of action

This is not a space for:

    • Right Wing, Centrist, or Liberal ideology
    • Neutrality or “both sides” rhetoric
    • "Devil’s advocate"
    • White supremacy, racism, anti-blackness, antisemitism, anti-Muslim views, or anti-im/migrant views
    • Ableism (including ableism directed at physically disabled people, people with chronic illnesses, people classed as mentally ill, people with neurodevelopmental disorders, neurodivergent/neuroatypical people, addicts, Deaf/HoH communities, HIV+ people, etc.)
    • Anything reflecting eugenics ideology
    • Hetero/Cissexist views or any other prejudice towards LGBT+ folks or any gender nonconforming people
    • Misogyny, abuse culture, rape culture, or broader gender and sexual violence apologism
    • Police support or apologism
    • Sectarian leftist infighting

Please be respectful and remember that we are working together for a just world. When we correct each other, it is out of solidarity and trust in our collective ability to grow. Listen to and thank those who help guide you in healthier and more just directions.
