USGBC-LA Fire Wise Tour: Home/Property Application

Our region now faces a 365-days-a-year fire season with devasting and potentially deadly consequences. There are, however, steps Angelenos can take to protect properties, mitigate the region’s fire danger, and increase the city’s resilience. Architects, builders, developers, urban planners and landscapers have critical roles to play and that’s why the green building community is taking action. 

USGBC-LA’s first-annual 2020 Fire Wise Tours will take place during Summer and Fall and illustrate the latest home-hardening and fire-wise landscaping strategies to the public. These tours will be supported by webinars and additional in-person trainings designed to dispel myths and offer clear, substantive guidance for fire mitigation and safety.

Deadline: March 29th, 2020

Criteria

Selected properties will be located in the greater Los Angeles region preferably in areas prone to fire. Ideal submissions will feature both home hardening and fire wise landscaping features as defined in the application. Communities that have home-hardened and wisely landscaped together are encouraged to apply. 

Why Apply

Tour properties will help set the stage for LA’s adoption of more fire-wise building and landscape standards and both inspire and support Angelenos in making needed changes. Architects, developers and homeowners will be recognized for their foresight and community contributions. USGBC-LA will promote the selected properties on its website and via social media. We will also award a residential and a commercial Firewise Property of the Year at our annual Green Gala, which typically has more than 500 attendees.
