- The first payment of $200, is due by June 1st, any late payments will incur a $50 late fee. (ten days after the due date will be considered late)
August 1, 2020:
- The second payment of $200, is due by August 1st, any late payments will incur a $50 late fee. (ten days after the due date will be considered late)
November 1, 2020:
- The final payment of $200, is due by November 1st, any late payments will incur a $50 late fee. (ten days after the due date will be considered late)
- Entries Close. Any entries submitted after November 1st will incur a $150 late fee.
- Slot Entries must be named. A copy of the horse’s registration papers must also be provided. Slot entries named after November 1st but before November 15th will incur a $150 late fee.
- Slot transfers before November 15th will incur a $150 slot transfer fee.

2020 FUTURITY & DERBY TERMS & CONDITIONS
General FUTURITY
Open to 3-year-old horses of all breeds, to be shown in three rounds of competition: herd (1st rd), rein (2nd rd) and cow work (3rd rd). Horses may be previously exhibited in a bridle, snaffle bit, or hackamore. However, the horse may not have been shown in a bridle down the fence in any judged classes or events with the exception of horse sales.
THE HORSES AGE WILL BE AS OF 1 AUG 2019. MEANING IF YOUR HORSE WAS 3 YEARS OLD AS OF 1 AUG 2019, IT WILL BE RECONIZED AS 3 YEARS OLD FOR THIS EVENT ONLY.
Top riders base on number of entries will then compete in Clean Slate Finals in three rounds of competition: herd (1st rd), rein (2nd rd) and cow work (3rd rd).
General DERBY
Open to 4-year-old and 5-year-old horses of all breeds, to be shown in three rounds of competition: herd (1st rd), rein (2nd rd) and cow work (3rd rd). Horses may be shown in a snaffle bit or hackamore.

Slot Entries
- Can be sold or transferred
- $150 slot transfer fee for entries transferred prior to the draw
- $300 slot transfer fee for entries transferred after the draw

Divisions:
- Open Snaffle Bit Futurity
- Open Non Pro Snaffle Bit Futurity (Compeitors eligible for Non pro Class must enter in the Open and will earn a free entry into Non Pro Futurity, 1st Place will be awarded a Buckle and 1000.00, score used from Open will determine Non pro Winner)
- Open Derby
- Open Non Pro Derby (Compeitors eligilbe for the Non Pro Class must enter in the Open and will earn a free entry into Non Pro Derby, 1st Place will be awarded a Buckle and 1000.00, score used from Open will determine Non pro Winner)
Naming:
- Horses must be named by November 1st
- Copy of the horse’s registration papers or Grade Horse
- Competition License must be submitted with the name.
- Slot entries named after November 1st, but before November 15th, will be assessed a $150 late fee.
- Slots that are not named before November 15th will incur a $300 late fee.
- Once a horse is named (at any time), it is considered final. Any change to horse name is subject to a substitution fee ($150).
- Riders must be named by November 15th .
- Riders may be changed until the draw on November 15.
- Rider change after the draw must be approved by the Show Committee.
Selling Slots
If a slot owner wishes to sell a slot, they may advertise the slot for sale via the ARCHA website or via other means. To be listed on cowhorseaustralia.com , please send written confirmation of type of slot ( Derby/Futurity, Open/Non Pro), contact name and contact information to the ARCHA office. They will be listed in the order received and not removed until written confirmation is received from the seller.
Slots will not be officially transferred without:
• Written confirmation of new owner from previous slot owner
• New Entry form from new slot owner
• All required fees to date are paid
The transfer fee will be billed to the new owner
Slots transferred BEFORE the draw will be drawn in the initial draw on November 15th.
Slots transferred AFTER the draw will be placed in the draw, once entries close, according to NRCHA rule 9.4.1.
Open Division Payments (Futurity AND Derby)

Terms and Conditions Of Entry:
Show entrants scratching, for any reason, after close of entries, will be required to produce a vet certificate and will still incur cattle charges and applicable fees. You will only receive an entry fee as a refund once a vet certificate produced.
When a competitor enters and fails to pay entry fees by the entry deadline their entries that were submitted will be withdrawn, should the competitor wish to enter again they will incur a late penalty entry and will go to the bottom of the draw on used cattle. No exceptions will be given for this circumstance.
Horses that are scratched after the draw may only re-enter as a late entry and will be placed in the draw, once entries close, according to NRCHA rule 9.4.1. They will not be allowed to purchase a slot. Entries received after the draw has been completed (November 15th)
Substitutions
• Horse Substitution:
o The substituted horse must be owned by the same person or persons
o The following items must be sent to the ARCHA office or presented to the Horse Show
Office at the show by noon the day before the entered division starts:
A veterinary certificate or statement stating why the horse entered will be unable to
work
A new entry form
A copy of the new entry’s registration papers or a Grade Horse Competition License
A substitution fee of $150.
o Substitutions that do not provide all the items listed above will be considered a late entry and will be assessed the late entry fees due at the time of entry.
• Rider Substitution:
o Process
Prior to November 1st, rider substitutions can be completed by contacting the ARCHA Office. After November 1st and prior to November 15th, rider substitutions can be completed by contacting the ARCHA Office but require Show Committee approval.
• Substituted riders can only compete in divisions they are eligible for, regardless of what divisions the horse was entered in prior to the rider substitution.
o If the substituted rider is eligible for more divisions than the horse was originally entered in, those divisions will be added.
o If the substituted rider is eligible for fewer divisions than the horse was originally entered in, ineligible divisions will be removed.
On or after November 1:
• New riders must currently be entered in the futurity.
• Substitution due to accident or illness (injury of original rider) will be done according to NRCHA rule 10.1.2.6.
• Require review and approval of the Show Committee
Late Entries
Late entries will be assessed all entry fees due at time of entry plus late entry penalties of 50% of entry fees and all remaining payments when due. Entries received after the draw has been completed (November 15th) will be placed in the draw, once entries close (November 1st), according to NRCHA rule 9.4.1.
Change of Ownership
If any entry changes ownership, the entry will retain eligibility by complying with the following steps:
1. Notification of change in ownership, and the intention of the new owner to continue the entry.
2. Provide the ARCHA with a copy of the corrected registration papers or Grade Horse Competition License showing the new owner.
3. Payment of remaining fees when due.
4. The new owner must be a current member of the ARCHA.
5. The Futurity management reserves the right to approve all ownership transfers.
6. Owner Transfer Policy for transfers on the show grounds: ALL Open horse owner transfers must be given to the Horse Show office. The original papers, breed association transfer form, and appropriate fees must be given to the Horse Show Office. The Horse Show Office will mail the transfer to the breed association.
7. Non Pro entry ownership changes must comply with all Non Pro eligibility rules.
Equipment
1. Entries will be shown in a standard headstall (brow-band, shaped ear or split ear) (hackamores are accepted for the Open and Non Pro DERBY only) using a “D” or “O” Ring type, no larger than 4 inches in diameter on the inside of the ring. They must have a broken, 2- piece mouthpiece, being a minimum of 5/16 inch in diameter, measured 1 inch in from the inside of the ring on the snaffle bit, with a gradual decrease to the center of the snaffle. The mouthpiece should be round, oval or egg-shaped, smooth and unwrapped metal. It may be inlaid, but must be smooth. Latex wrap is not acceptable. These bits must be such that when the reins are pulled no undue leverage is applied, i.e. the inside of the circumference of the ring must be free of rein, curb, or head stall attachments.
2. A leather or other woven material chin strap of any width is to be used. No iron, chain or other material may be used. Chin strap is allowed to include metal buckles and/or keepers on snaffle bits only.
3. Split reins may be used. Entries must be shown with both hands on the reins, except in the herd work portion of the competition.
4. After each work, headstalls must be dropped and viewed by the appointed representative of the Futurity and mouth checked.
5. One hour prior to and during the performance, all illegal equipment must be removed from the arena. This includes turn-back horses and herd holders.
6. Size and design of horseshoes will be at the exhibitor’s discretion.
7. Reference NRCHA Rule Book section 5 for further information.
Finals
• The number of horses advancing to the finals is determined in the NRCHA Rulebook in 10.5.1
o This will be a clean slate Finals
o There are NO finals fees in 2020!
Miscellaneous
• In the case of a grade horse, a vet certificate must be provided.
• Draw Date is November 15, 2020.
• An owner may enter more than one horse.
• A rider may ride more than one horse.
• A horse may only be entered one time in each division of the futurity/derby:
o Open Futurity
o Non Pro Futurity
o Open Derby
o Non Pro Derby
• Prize money will be paid to the owner or designated payee listed on the entry form.
• Entrants do not have to participate in all three parts of the Futurity to be eligible for prize money.
• The Show Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any entry. All decisions are final.
• The ARCHA reserves the right to cancel, transfer or reschedule the Futurity and Derby without notice and/or liability. In the event of cancellation all entry fees paid to date will be refunded. Interest earned on the entries is the property of the Australian Reined Cow Horse Association.
• NRCHA rules will apply unless specifically deleted or altered. These rules and conditions are subject to change by action of the ARCHA Board of Directors.
