The OHSU Invent-a-thon on October 23-25, 2020 is going virtual! We are excited about the opportunities that the virtual format will provide to bring together a larger and more diverse group of participants from a broader geographic region to tackle healthcare challenges and build community. We are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with MIT Hacking Medicine and to be bringing on the MIT COVID-19 Challenge as partners on this event. The MIT COVID-19 Challenge has taken the lead in running a series of highly successful and engaging virtual healthcare challenges over the past few months and will be a great resource. How does a virtual healthcare hackathon work? All the essential parts of the event will remain the same! Participants will have the opportunity to hear from inspiring keynote speakers, join an interdisciplinary team of fellow innovation enthusiasts, brainstorm and build a solution, attend workshops, receive coaching from mentors, talk with our sponsors, and pitch a solution to active investor judges to compete for prizes. Tackling COVID-19 and healthcare disparities The COVID-19 pandemic has unearthed major new healthcare challenges and further exacerbated long-standing healthcare disparities. We look forward to having teams tackle these urgent needs and will be awarding additional prizes to the teams that develop the most impactful medtech and/or digital health/health IT solutions in these areas. The event will continue to focus on the following sub-tracks: 1) surgical care, 2) early disease detection, 3) rural and low resource setting health care, and 4) management of chronic conditions.
