"Getting More Out of Lent" (Word Among Us Press). [Booklet]. If your group wants mostly discussion, this may be your pick. Getting More Out of Lent is a light and easy, but thought-provoking discussion guide to immersion in God’s Love, God’s Word, Healing, Forgiveness and Salvation. 5 sessions.
"Opening the Word" (formed.org). [Video and Discussion]. Back by popular demand, Opening the Word is a preview into the Sunday Scripture readings. Using video and discussion/reflection questions, participants gain further insight into the Sunday readings and apply take-aways to everyday life. Former participants said they got much more out of the Liturgy of the Word after being involved in an Opening the Word small group. 8 or more sessions.
"Rediscover The Saints", by Matthew Kelly (Dynamic Catholic). [Book]. Not your “typical” book of Saints! If your group wants easy reading, good discussion questions, everyday life application, learning about real people who have impacted our world over the centuries, this is your choice. Rediscover the Saints books were gifted to the parish at Christmas – perhaps now is the time to open the book and see what is inside your gift! Small groups will cover a few short chapters each week and use a discussion guide coupled with optional videos. 8-9 sessions.
"We Pray: Living in God's Presence", by Fr. Oscar Lukefahr (Liguori Publications). [Book]. Could you use a “primer on prayer”? Could your prayer life use a boost? Would you like a better understanding of how to have a conversation with God and develop a closer relationship with Jesus? In his humorous and easy-to-read style, Fr. Lukefahr walks the reader through the various ways God speaks to us and we speak to God. Groups will read one chapter a week and use Fr. Luke’s discussion/reflection questions. 8-9 Sessions
"Conversion: Following the Call of Christ", by Bishop Robert Barron (Word on Fire). [Video and Workbook]. Are you a Bishop Robert Barron fan? Is your group interested in looking deeper into scripture? Conversion takes the participant into 6 stories from the Gospel of John to show how encounters with Jesus are life changing. “Conversion is not just a one-time event, but an ever-deepening process of growing closer to Jesus until we are finally and fully united with him and his will" (Conversion study guide p.1). At each session, participants view an 18-20 minute video and complete workbook questions for understanding and application. 7 sessions.
