St. Patrick's Day on the Bayou & Paddle Bayou Lafourche
Welcome Back to the Bayou!!!
It’s been way too long since we last got together to enjoy beautiful Bayou Lafourche the way it is meant to be seen - from a canoe while gliding peacefully down the bayou. (Can you believe the last BTNEP Paddle Bayou Lafourche trip was way back in 2019 before COVID-19 changed our world?)
This year, the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program is teaming up with the Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District and the Friends of Bayou Lafourche to create a unique experience - a half-day paddling trip in conjunction with St. Patrick’s Day on the Bayou! In fact, participants on the paddle trip also will receive free entrance into the festival and a free festival T-shirt. Together, the package offers families and friends a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the beauty and culture of the region.
The cost of the paddle trip is $35 per person. Canoes can be rented for $50 per canoe. Rentals are limited, so register early if you are interested.
To accommodate as many people as possible while observing COVID protocols to ensure safety, we are offering two different paddling trip options - a 13.7 mile trip (approximately 5-6 hours) and a shorter 8.7 mile trip (approximately 3-4 hours) - and staggering launch times. In addition, social distancing protocols will be in place for the transportation provided from the ending site in Thibodaux where participants park, back to the launch sites.
Depending on your plans for the day, you can register for one of 5 options.
