The International Student Office is looking for friendly and motivated SBCC students to be part of a group that serves our diverse community on campus.
HOW DOES THE STUDENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM WORK?
Students attend training sessions to develop cultural awareness, cultivate peer support strategies, and learn about student event planning, marketing, and public speaking, in addition to weekly meetings. Students who attend all the training sessions earn the Ambassador Certificate.
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE TO APPLY? APPLICANTS MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- Must have completed one full-time semester at SBCC, earning a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Must communicate effectively, and work as part of a team
- Must be aware of or interested in learning about issues faced by new international students
- If applicants are admitted, they must commit to at least two semesters with the Ambassador Program
WHAT ARE THE TIME COMMITMENTS FOR BEING AN AMBASSADOR?
- Ambassadors meet virtually every Friday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM
- Ambassadors must attend an Ambassador Retreat on the first Saturday of the semester
- Ambassadors assist at New Student Orientations prior to the start of the semester
- Ambassadors participate in regular events sponsored by the International Office.
