    Tortoise Adoption Application

We are thankful you want to be part of the solution and appreciate your patience and thoroughness with this lengthy application. As you know there is a huge need to find great new permanent homes. And as you can understand, this requires us to gather as much information as possible so we can match up the right animal with the right adopter. It is our hopes that you have already done your homework prior to reaching this form. You will need to know what it takes to house, feed and maintain one or more of these amazing animals.

    A few reminders:

    • You must be 18 years or older to adopt. If you are a parent adopting a tortoise for anyone in your household, you are the applicant and the responsible party.
    • Your outdoor habitat must already be prepared.
    • You must provide current photos at the end of the application including a piece of paper with your name and date in each photo. (This verifies they are authentic and recent)
    • If you don't already have a reptile Vet, you will need to do your research and pick one.
    • Local Texas adoptions only. We do not ship our animals.
  • Your Age Range:*
  •  -
  • Do you have the financial stability for the lifetime care of your adopted tortoise?*
  • Do you own or rent your home?*
  • If you rent your home, do you have your landlord's permission to house a reptile?*
  • Will there be any children interacting on a regular basis with the tortoise?*
  • Are there any other pets in your household including dogs, cats, reptiles, etc?*
  • Have you ever had to re-home any former pets?*
  •  -
  • Are you prepared for a long-term commitment of 15-100 years to this animal?*
  • Are you aware of the costs associated with reptile veterinary care?*
  • Are you prepared to pay expensive veterinary bills as needed to get your tortoise well?*
  • Do you already have a secure, outdoor habitat prepared?*
  • There is always the possibility that tortoises housed together will fight or harass each other once they reach sexual maturity regardless of gender. Are you willing and able to build separate habitats to keep them separated if this happens?*
