The Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize key businesses, business achievements, and individuals in the community. The Chamber knows firsthand that our businesses, big and small, are the backbone of a thriving Pittsburg Community, but also that Pittsburg is a team whereby key individuals/groups make large impacts.

In previous years, the Chamber held the Installation Luncheon, but this year we are changing things up. 

This year, the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce presents Pittsburg's Choice Awards.  The Chamber will honor the achievements of business through: Big Business of the Year (26+ employees); Small Business of the Year (1-25 employees); and Eco-Business of the Year. In addition, we’ll honor business achievements for Best On-line Presence and Best Customer Experience. The Pittsburg Chamber will also honor individuals of the year including: Citizen of the Year, Educator of the Year, Veteran of the Year, Police Officer of the Year and First Responder of the Year.  

Your participation is needed to nominate businesses and individuals for the below listed awards:   

·         Big Business of the Year (26+ employees) 

·         Small Business of the Year (1-25 employees) 

·         Eco Business of the Year  

·         Best On-line Presence

·         Best Customer Experience

·         Citizen of the Year

·         Veteran of the Year

All business categories include non-profits.  Winners in the other individual categories are provided by those entities.   

Anyone can submit a nomination.  Final selections for the 2020 Honorees will be voted on by the Executive Committee of the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce.

Honorees will be honored the week of March 9th – 13th and will be notified by the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce regarding the details.

BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
Categories & Criteria

Big Business of the Year
(26+ employees and includes non-profits)

Criteria: 

• Must be a business located in the City of PIttsburg.  
• Must be active in the community
• Must have 26 employees or greater. 
• Demonstrates ethical leadership and respected corporate stewardship.
• Substantiated history as an established business including, but not limited to: number of years in business, local job creation, sustained expansion, growth in square footage, and/or growth in net worth.  

Small Business of the Year
(1-25 Employees and includes non-profits)

Criteria 

• Must be a business located in the City of Pittsburg. 
• Must be active in the community.
• Must have 25 or less employees.
• Demonstrates excellence in business practices, customer service, and community involvement. 

 

Eco-Business of the Year
(Includes non-profits)

Criteria: 

• Organizations with a conscious effort toward being a green business, meaning businesses that have practices in at least one area of: environmental protections, engage in resource recovery efforts,  exercise pollution prevention, and have a culture/practice of recycling and reuse.
• Must be active in the community.
• Demonstrates excellence in business practices, customer service, and community involvement.
• High ethical standards and compliance with generally accepted standards for management and public disclosure.  

BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENTS
Categories & Criteria

Best On-line Presence 
** New Business Category
Online marketing is extremely important for all businesses, in this day and age, because it has a huge influence on the way consumers make purchasing decisions. The Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce would like to acknowledge the business or service with the best on-line presence.

Criteria:  
Businesses should be nominated in this category if they have one or more of:

• Optimal branding of their business, products/services  through use of media
• Strong use of social media for advertising and branding purposes
• Website that is user friendly, comprehensive and mirrors the brand and media messaging.
• Have/has run a successful advertising or media campaign on-line

Best Customer Experience
** New Business Category
A Customer Experience is a self-expressed measurement of visitors’ and customers’ perceptions when interacting with a business.  Businesses should be nominated in this category by:

 

Criteria: 

• Clean internal and external appearance of the businesses
• Strong and consistent customer service from beginning of experience to end
• Staff knowledge of business products or services
• Overall shopping experience and customer’s willingness to return

OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUAL OF THE YEAR
Categories & Criteria

 

Citizen of the Year

Criteria:

• Applicant must be a non-business owner.
• Applicant must be a current resident of the City of Pittsburg.
• Applicant must show community involvement and may not benefit from that involvement in their employment or vocation.
• Applicant should improve the quality of life in our community.

Veteran of the Year

Criteria: 

• Veteran must have made a significant difference in their communities by promoting a sense of duty, volunteerism and an appreciation of country, democracy, and freedom.
• Veteran must have been honorably discharged from active duty or retired from any United States of America branch of military service. Nominees for this award may still be active in Reserve or National Guard units.
• Nominees must be living in the City of Pittsburg at the time of their nomination.
