Purchasing Policies
Pricing and Payments
Prices for hedgehog babies are $225 for males and $250 for females. Babies with particularly desirable qualities may be priced higher. This includes but is not limited to facial markings, patterns, colors, etc. A non-refundable down payment on a selected hedgehog of $50 must be made to hold that baby, payment in full is required before taking a baby home. We accept PayPal, credit cards and cash.

Reservation and Deposits
A baby cannot be reserved without an application form and down payment of $50. When babies are safe to be away from their momma they will be photographed and their photo and details will be posted to www.MaplesPricklePatch.net. If you place a deposit on a baby and then change your mind, the deposit can be applied to a baby from a future litter if notice is given before the hedgehog is ready to leave at 6 weeks of age and at least 200g. If no reasonable communication is made with Maples Prickle Patch concerning the reserved hedgehog before the age of 6 weeks/200g’s the down payment can be forfeited. Failure to show up on the agreed upon date and time without appropriate notice will result in the forfeit of your deposit. Deposits can be made via PayPal, credit cards or cash.
Sales Policies
Hedgehogs will not be sold to anyone under the age of 18 or to those residing in states that it is illegal to purchase/own a hedgehog. Hedgehogs can be wonderful pets for older children/teens but it is required for a parent to purchase an appropriate hedgie for their child and to oversee the care of the hedgehog and veterinary care/costs. We will not sell opposite sex pairs to the same person or persons living in the same household. We will also not sell hedgehogs to those who we believe may use their pet hedgehog for breeding. Should an "accidental" pairing or planned pairing of a male and female take place that were purchased from Maple's Prickle Patch you will be in violation of the non-breeding contract and Maple's Prickle Patch reserves the right to seize the hedgehog purchased from Maple's Prickle Patch and all babies/profit made from the sale of babies. If the owner refuses, Maple's Prickle Patch will seek legal action.
* We will only sell hedgehogs for breeding to breeders that we have a working relationship with.
We have the right to refuse the sale of a hedgehog to anyone, at any time, for any reason. If a deposit has already been made and the sale is cancelled at the discretion of Maple's Prickle Patch, the buyer will be provided with a full refund. If the sale is cancelled based on clear evidence that the buyer has been dishonest, Maple's Prickle Patch has the right to retain any deposit that has already been paid. (This includes the intention to breed or to purchase a hedgehog on behalf of someone intending to breed or possession of an opposite-sex hedgehog that was not disclosed in the reservation form) Any money paid above the deposit price of $50 will be refunded to the buyer should this happen.
Returns and Refunds
Should the owner decide a hedgehog(s) is not for them, they have one week (7days) to return the hedgehog(s) for 75% of purchase price not including the deposit. After one week, the owner has 30 days to return the hedgehog(s) for a 50% of the purchase price not including the deposit. After 30 days, the owner can return the hedgehog(s) for 25% of the purchase price not including the deposit. After 60 days, the hedgehog(s) can be returned without a refund as it will be considered a surrender. Should a rehoming become necessary, the hedgehog(s) is to be returned to Maple’s Prickle Patch without refund outside of the return policy.
Maple's Prickle Patch reserves the right to refuse a refund if the hedgehog that is being returned shows signs of neglect or non-congenital illness (unless the necessary veterinary care has already been provided)
Health Guarantee and WHS Warranty
Hedgehogs are guaranteed to be healthy at the time of purchase.
All hedgehog(s)s born at Maple’s Prickle Patch come with a lifetime warranty against Wobbly Hedgehog(s) Syndrome (WHS) and a 6-month warranty against congenital health defects. If within 7 days of purchase the hedgehog is confirmed by a licensed veterinarian to be in ill health and the cause is clearly attributed to Maple's Prickle Patch, the hedgehog may be returned for a refund of the purchase price or for another hedgehog of equal value to be determined by Maple's Prickle Patch. A written cause of illness and diagnosis from the treating veterinarian is required at the time of return. Veterinary costs are the responsibility of the buyer. All hedgehogs born at Maple's Prickle Patch come with a 6-month congenital health guarantee. This guarantee covers any congenital defects or illnesses. (A congenital disease is something that is present at birth that is either hereditary or acquired) If the hedgehog dies before the age of 6 months, and the cause is congenital in nature, the hedgehog will be replaced at no cost to the original buyer. Veterinarian costs or others accrued costs will be the responsibility of the owner. If a claim is made on the warranty, the owner must prove the illness or disease with a necropsy and documentation from a licensed veterinarian that has experience with exotic animals.
The lifetime warranty for WHS covers the replacement of a hedgehog born at Maple's Prickle Patch that has been diagnosed with WHS via a necropsy, with a baby hedgehog from different family lines. There is no proven cause for WHS but it is believed to have a hereditary link. Here at Maple's Prickle Patch we do track the pedigrees of our breeding herd but there is no way to guarantee that our off spring will never have WHS. If a claim is made on the WHS warranty, the owner must prove the illness with a necropsy and documentation from Dr. Spraker at Colorado State University. In the event your hedgehog dies and WHS is suspected it is important to hedgie prepared and shipped to CSU Veterinary Diagnostic Lab immediately upon death for a proper necropsy. Appropriate Habitat
A cage/habitat as outlined by our Hedgehog Care/Habitat page is required. We do sell items for habitats but you are not required to purchase them from us. However, pictures are required of your set up no later than 24 hours before the pick-up date. Failure to provide pictures will result in a cancellation of your pick-up appointment. New owners will be allowed to reschedule one more pick-up appointment but if the new owner fails to provide pictures of their habitat no later than 24 hours before the rescheduled pick-up the sale will be canceled and the deposit will be forfeited.
States Where Hedgehogs are Illegal
We will not sell to states where hedgehogs are illegal. They are as followed:

• Georgia
• Hawaii
• The 5 boroughs of New York
• Pennsylvania
• Windsor, Ontario
• Langley, British Columbia
Shipping
At this time, we do not offer shipping on our PET hedgehogs.
