AT-LARGE ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES - TEEN
Please read all information carefully. If you have questions, please contact the Teen Director at cindy.owens@missoregon.org prior to submitting your application.
NOTE: Applicant is prohibited from using the assigned official at-large title prior to state organization approval of application and notification to the applicant that she has been accepted as a contestant in this year's competition. Additionally, approved delegates are prohibited from using the title and wearing regalia after the conclusion of the state competition.
1. Have a positive, energetic, optimistic, driven attitude that is ready to have fun!
2. Be a teen who meets the age eligibility requirements:
Miss America’s Teen 14-18: must be no YOUNGER than 14 by September 1 and no older than 18 on Sept 30, 2026.
Miss America HQ allows the option for 18-year-old contestants to have a ‘pivot’ year to decide whether they would like to compete in the Teen or Miss divisions. Additionally, once an 18-year-old decides on the division she may compete in, she may not change divisions until the next cycle.
3. Meet all eligibility requirements set forth in the Miss America Delegate Contract.
4.a. If you are a current local titleholder you are prohibited from using an assigned at-large title or submitting the required paperwork until the day after you crown your successor, provided that all fees have been paid.
4.b. If you are eligible to compete in a closed local competition, you must compete in that local prior to submitting an application to become an at-large candidate. Check your eligibility here.
5. Complete all remaining program and production paperwork and other requirements. Complete information is found in the Teen Contestant's Resource Portal. The link will be provided upon approval of application.
6. Be available for the following mandatory events/dates:
Delegate/Parent/Guardian In-Person Spring Workshop
April 26, 2026 in Oregon City
**It is mandatory that a parent/guardian join you at the Delegate Workshop.
Delegate/Parent/Guardian Virtual Workshop
May 30, 2026 via Zoom
Miss Oregon & Miss Oregon’s Teen Competition
June 22-28, 2026 in Seaside
**It is mandatory that a parent/guardian accompany the Contestant to the state competition and remain in Seaside (or surrounding area) for the entire competition. Lodging and other expenses are the responsibility of the Contestant's family. Meals during the required competition days are provided.
Miss America’s Teen Competition
Official Competition Dates: Aug. 30 - Sept. 8, 2026
Location: TBA
Entry fee and airfare of Miss Oregon’s Teen 2026 will be provided by the Miss Oregon Scholarship Program. Lodging is the responsibility of the contestant's family. Meals during travel days and the required competition days are provided; though if you have any food sesitivities or allergies, you should be prepared to provide your own meals.
Submit the non-refundable participation fee of $500. Need a payment plan? Email us at blaine.barklow@missoregon.org with "At-Large Delegate Payment Plan" in the subject line and we'll see what we can work out!
Included with your non-refundable participation fee is:
- Official Miss Oregon's Teen title and Miss America's Teen sash embroidered with at-large title (title to be determined by the State organization).
- Registration for the Teen contestant for the Spring Delegate Workshop. (Parent/guardian must still register themselves.)
- Entry to compete in the 2026 Miss Oregon's Teen Competition.
- Entrance into any ticketed events held during the 2026 Miss Oregon and Miss Oregon's Teen competition.
- Appearance in the 2026 Miss Oregon Parade.
- All other swag, promotional materials and opportunities that being a contestant at Miss Oregon's Teen offers. (Last year this was valued at nearly $3,000!)
A crown is not included with the participation fee. If you would like to purchase one, you may indicate so below.
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS POST APPLICATION APPROVAL:
1. Collect sponsors for A MINIMUM OF ONE MANDATORY PROGRAM BOOK AD PAGE. Ad pages are $400 each, and all pages beyond the first will earn the at-large delegate additional monies to offset competition expenses. Information to be found in the contestant's resource portal. 2. Provide a mandatory silent auction basket to be auctioned off during the state competition. Information to be found in the contestant's resource portal. Link available upon application approval.
3. All competition wardrobe is the sole responsibility of the delegate. This includes: interview, talent, evening gown, off night evening gown (not required), required production wardrobe, media tour outfit, official headshot outfit, and clean/appropriate shoes and accessories for each wardrobe change listed. 4. Be committed to volunteering within your community. Provide an official Community Service Initiative Essay outlining and detailing your chosen social cause and what you have done and will do to support this cause during your year of service. This will be used during your interview portion of competition. To be submitted within the contestant's resource portal. Link available upon application approval.
5. Create a Fact Sheet that will be used during your interview portion of competition. To be submitted within the contestant's resource portal. Link available upon application approval.
6. Prepare a 90-second talent presentation that may be publicized by the Miss Oregon Scholarship Program. Further information to be found in the contestant's resource portal. Link available upon application approval.
7. Fundraise for the American Heart Association and Miss America's Scholarship Foundation via Spotfund.com. Each state delegate must raise $300. Additional information available within the contestant's resource portal.
8. Recruit a Shining Star (aged 5 to 12) to participate in Miss Oregon's Shining Star program during the 2026 Miss Oregon & Miss Oregon's Teen Competition. Additional information will be provided at the Delegate Workshop.
9. Participate in all other fundraising activities and/or events in support of the Miss Oregon Scholarship Program or Oregon Legacy Scholarship Foundation.
