In May 2020, the Rotary Garden Wheel at Greenfield Lake will be transformed with more than 500 U.S. flags for the "Wheel of Honor." Visitors will see an impressive sea of red, white, and blue flags donated by individuals and organizations in memory or in honor of personal heroes, a special community servant, friend or loved on, veterans and active duty military personnel, first responders, or a pending or recent high school or college graduate.
The flags are three feet by five feet and will be mounted on flagstaffs seven and a half feet tall with an attached waterproof tag with the name of each person honored. The flags will be displayed 24/7 from Armed Forces Day, May 16, to Independence Day, July 4. They will be lit at night.
The public is invited to a Wheel of Honor dedication on 11 a.m., Saturday, May 16, at Greenfield Park.
Donations for flags are $40 each. The flags will remain the property of the Wilmington Rotary Club and will be reused in subsequent Wheel of Honor events. You can make your donation(s) via check or credit card, using the options below.
Donations to the Rotary Club of Downtown Wilmington Foundation are tax free. We greatly appreciate your support of the Wheel of Honor.
