🏡 PilotSuites Shared Living Guide
A few friendly pointers for a healthy, happy shared home.
At PilotSuites, there aren’t a ton of hard-and-fast rules — just a shared understanding that we all respect the home, its contents, and each other. This list isn’t a lecture — it’s a collection of suggestions and conversation starters. Every successful shared home starts with one thing: communication. Talk early. Talk often.
🚭 No Smoking in the House
Smoking, vaping, or using tobacco is not allowed indoors. You may smoke in the backyard if needed — just be respectful and clean up any butts or trash.
🐾 No Pets Allowed
Unless you’ve received written authorization from the landlord, pets are not allowed on the property. Some Housemates may have allergies or other concerns.
🥚 Communal Food: Talk About It
Some roommates are cool with shared eggs, butter, or beer — others aren’t. Discuss it upfront. And always give a heads-up if you finish something that was shared.
“Hey, I used the last eggs — I’ll grab more tonight.” goes a long way.
🚿 Shower Schedules & Hot Water
Coordinate shower times to avoid fights over hot water. Especially if you’re both “shower-before-bed” people. Respect each other’s rhythms and talk about timing.
🌡️ Thermostat Agreements
Some folks sleep best at 68°F, others like it at 80°F. Set expectations early and, if needed, write them down and stick ’em next to the thermostat. It’s about comfort and conserving energy.
🧽 Follow the Cleaning Flow
Everyone’s standard of clean is different, so:
Clean up after yourself — no exceptions.
Wipe counters, wash dishes, and clean shared areas after use. Participate in light cleaning of common areas — even if it’s not “your mess.”
🙋♂️ Ask Before You Borrow
Don’t assume anything is fair game — whether it’s a shirt, a frying pan, or a half-gallon of milk. When in doubt, ask first.
🧻 Replace the Toilet Paper
If you finish the roll, replace it. Throw away the empty one. If you’re down to the last two rolls, either buy more or let your roommates know.
🤫 No Gossip or Trash Talk
If there’s a problem, talk directly to your roommate — not about them. If needed, reach out to PilotSuites management to mediate. Don’t let little things become big ones.
🧍Guests & Social Time
Your roommates aren’t expected to disappear when you have guests. Likewise, don’t throw a party in the common space without giving a heads-up — and maybe an invite.
🗑️ Trash Rotation
No one likes doing it, but everyone has to. If it’s full and you haven’t taken it out lately — it’s your turn.
🔇 Quiet Hours (10 PM – 8 AM)
We all have different schedules. To be fair to everyone, please keep noise levels low enough that they can’t be heard through a closed bedroom door during quiet hours.
This is especially important — your Housemates may have early morning flights, and rest is critical to safety.
✅ Set Expectations
Everyone has a different baseline for “clean,” “quiet,” or “courteous.” The best thing you can do is talk about expectations early — and revisit them once in a while.
🗣️ Communicate. Communicate. Communicate.
Don’t rely on fridge notes, sarcasm, or passive-aggressive behavior. Talk it out — it’ll save stress and preserve your peace.
