Biology instructor and coordinator of the Mississippi Space Grant Consortium Richard Cosby is urging students in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to apply for a stipend-paying tutoring job. Students have until February 13, 2020, to submit their application.
During the Spring 2020 school term, 10 chosen scholars will each be paid a stipend of $390 for tutoring their peers in the math and science subjects of algebra, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, human anatomy and physiology, general biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and principles of biology.
Applicants are to submit their application along with two letters of recommendation from former college instructors. They must also have their financial aid completed and their college transcript on file to be considered for the award. Those looking to apply must be enrolled as full-time students, taking at least 15 hours of classes and should not have any breaks in their enrollment. They are to have a minimum grade point average of a 3.0 with an exhibited interest in STEM fields.
The applicants will be informed that they have been chosen for the award on or before February 16, 2020.
