Requirements for fostering are that you provide a loving home. Dogs are not to be left outside for extended periods of time unsupervised. Cats are not allowed outside at any time.
You must agree to bring your foster animal to all vet appointments and all meet & greets until adopted. Cherokee Humane Society, CHS, will provide all veterinary care, crate or pen, and food if needed. All animals will be spayed/neutered when appropriate age and health are achieved.
Before this application can be approved, CHS agent must complete a home visit.
The foster animal must remain on your property at all times. If temporary pet sitting is needed, it must be approved by Sherry or Valerie.
You CAN NOT promise one of your foster animals to anyone, including yourself; however, you can refer them to CHS to have their application processed.
Before spending your own money, you must get the purchase approved from your foster coordinator. For reimbursement of food, turn in your receipt to your foster coordinator within 30 days of receipt date to Sherry or Valerie.
Before you can take your foster to a vet or ER vet visit you must have the visit approved by your foster coordinator. We do not pay for unapproved vet visits. For approval or any emergency contact Sherry or Valerie.
You understand that you are fostering a rescue dog/cat. It will not be perfect. It should be quarantined for 10 days upon entering your home. You are responsible for the health care of your personal pets, even if the illness started with your foster. You are responsible for any damages a foster creates while in your care, and you are responsible for any
personal medical bills that may arise from the foster.
By signing below, I attest that the above information is accurate and that I will follow CHS rules. I understand that the dog/cat belongs to CHS and that the foster coordinator may reclaim the dog/cat as deems necessary.
