High School Scholarship Application
About Us. The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing body of the nation’s nine historically African-American fraternities and sororities. These organizations are committed to scholarship, community service and cultural enrichment. The primary purpose of NPHC is to create and maintain high standards and to perpetuate constructive relationships both within and among our affiliate organizations. NPHC affiliates and their respective members have pledged to devote their resources to service in their communities as well as a lifetime commitment to the goals and ideals of each organization. About the Scholarship. NPHC is committed to scholarship, community service and empowering the community through enriching cultural experiences. The NPHC of Greater Atlanta will award NINE (9) $500 scholarships to deserving 2023 graduating high school seniors, and NINE (9) $500 scholarships to deserving undergraduate students Divine 9 NPHC students who exude high academic achievement, leadership, and community service. Through the application process, the recipients will show an alignment with our goals and demonstrate their interest in making a difference in society.
The application, essay, community service form, and letters of recommendation will be reviewed by the NPHC of Greater Atlanta’s Scholarship Committee.
The window to receive completed scholarship applications is October 1, 2022 to March 1, 2023. Scholarship recipients will be notified of their award by April 8, 2023 (via email and telephone).
Scholarship recipients may be requested to attend a special NPHC awards ceremony to be held at a later date.
Additional Application Information. We estimate that the application will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. To be considered, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Reside and attend school in the City of Atlanta, Clayton County, Fayette County or Fulton County School Districts;
- Complete online application (FYI – incomplete applications will not be considered);
- Relatives/ family members cannot submit letters of recommendation;
- Confirm receipt of high school diploma by the start of the Spring 2023 semester;
- Confirm acceptance into an accredited college/ university;
- Complete both essay questions (500 word maximum)
o Essay Question #1. If you had the authority to change your school in a positive way, what specific changes would you make and why?. (500 word maximum)
o Essay Question #2. Describe how you have demonstrated your leadership ability both inside and outside of school. (500 word maximum)
- Scholarship funds will be awarded directly to the university.
