Background

The Mike Skivington Memorial Scholarship Fund is pleased to offer two scholarships in the name of the former Wheatland-Chili Boys Varsity Soccer Coach Mr. Mike Skivington.  Coach Skiv passed away in January 2017, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.  As a Coach, as a man, and as a member of the community, Mike Skivington impacted countless lives.  He coached several sports at Wheatland-Chili and Spencerport High Schools and was very involved in the soccer community throughout Rochester.  He will be remembered by his ability to inspire young men and women to be their absolute best in all aspects of their life and never to give up on themselves or their aspirations.  Giving up was never an option for him. Scholarship Details & Qualifications

You must have participated in a sport your senior year. Student athletes from all sports are welcome to apply. All applications are due by May 21, 2025.

The scholarship will award $1500 to one male and one female athlete at Wheatland-Chili to be used toward their college education or military service.

The scholarship will be awarded to the individual that best exemplifies the qualities and ideals for which Coach Skiv stood for during his years as a coach and mentor:

• Outstanding character
• Drive
• Loyalty
• Commitment to both athletics and academics
• And most importantly a positive attitude

Letters of Recommendation

Two letters of recommendation are required to support the application, ideally from one teacher and one coach. The teacher or coach should send this letter directly to the guidance office to complete your application. Please all letters of recommendation to Donna_Hartley@wheatlandchili.org.
