Catamount Institute strives to provide each student with the opportunity to connect to the outdoors through school field trips.
In this effort, Catamount Institute provides financial aid to schools for the traditional field trip programs. These scholarships are based on the need and availability of funds. We cover a maximum of 90% for schools that apply.
Field trips cost $7/student per hour. For Catamount Institute visits to the school, we charge a $100 transportation fee.
The Process:
Financial aid applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Catamount Institute does not have a permanent scholarship fund. To provide financial aid, we attempt to match schools with grants/funders and solicit support throughout the year. Please allow ample time for applications to be processed.
The contact who fills out this application will be notified once the financial aid amount is determined. Catamount Institute staff will provide progress updates throughout the funding request process.
Required Materials:
- Completed Online Application
- Letter of Support from an Administrator
- Please note these letters are often used as part of grant applications and should be addressed to “To whom it may concern” and on school letterhead.
- Letters should include or mention any of the following: why it is beneficial for the school/students to attend a program at Catamount Institute; how the school will incorporate a visit to Catamount Institute into classroom learning; why outdoor learning is important to the students and school; and any other information on the school/students that could be of interest to a funder (demographics, anecdotes about students, current classroom environment, etc.).
