  • Remembering Your Loved Ones - Yahrzeit

  • It is a mitzvah (commandment) to observe yahrzeit, the anniversary of the day of death, by reciting Kaddish and attending synagogue services. In Reform practice, the names of the dead are often recited in the synagogue on the Shabbat nearest the yahrzeit. While some observe yahrzeit on the anniversary of the secular date of death, you may also observe the Hebrew date depending on your preference.

Temple Emanu-El will send you a notification on the Yahrzeit of your loved one(s) so you can hear their name be read during Shabbat Services.
